Methane gas is toxic and a huge contributor to global climate change. It's a safe bet you don't want to breathe it.

Unfortunately, the U.S. Senate is considering repeal the Bureau of Land Management’s Methane and Waste Prevention Rule. Western states need oil and gas companies to pay their fair share of public royalties on their extraction efforts--and to do their part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The federal methane rule required energy companies to cap leaks and limit venting and flaring, thereby providing greater returns to federal and state coffers and reducing emissions.

Drilling companies and President Trump want Republican leaders in Congress to repeal the Methane Rule, allowing oil and gas companies to go back to wasting our money and polluting our air. We need every Senator across the West to stand together against the repeal of the Methane Rule. Some states already have methane protections, others don't. But air pollution does not stop at state borders. We're all in this together.

We call on Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake of Arizona, Sen. Dean Heller of Nevada, and Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado to oppose President Trump’s plan to repeal the federal Methane Rule.
