Special district elections will take place May 6 in the Evergreen area, including those for the Evergreen Park and Recreation District Board of Directors and area fire district boards.

Evergreen Fire Protection District will save $80,000 originally budgeted for its election, which is not necessary due to a lack of candidates.

John Anderson and Mike Gregory were the only candidates to enter the race. They will take the seats that board vice president Charles Simons and board director Valerie Leswing are leaving at the end of their terms.

Board treasurer Jeff deDisse elected to stay for a second term unopposed.

Board president George Kling and board secretary David Christensen have terms up in 2016.

Running for three spots on the Indian Hills Fire Protection District Board of Directors are former Indian Hills fire chief Don Schoenbein and former volunteer Timothy “Ty” Robbins, and incumbents Kelley Lehman, Ron Walton and Marc Rosenberg.

The Indian Hills Fire Protection District will host a moderated board of directors candidate forum at 7 p.m. April 30 at Indian Hills Community Center, 5381 Parmalee Gulch Road.

Elections will take place from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. at Indian Hills Fire Station, 4476 Parmalee Gulch Road.

The Evergreen Park and Recreation District Board of Directors has three spots open in 2014 for four-year terms.

Tim Kimber, John Ellis, Peg Linn and Monty Estis are in the race along with incumbent Peter D. Linquist.

Mark Footer and Kit Darrow, whose terms end this year, are not seeking re-election.

There will be a park and rec board candidate forum at 6:30 p.m. April 23 at Evergreen Lake House, 29612 Upper Bear Creek Road, Evergreen.
