Joan Gregerson, founder of a local organization called Sustainable Revolution, is inviting people to a discussion Wednesday night of what a proposed Boulder County sustainability tax could mean for Longmont.
If You Go
What: Sustainable Revolution, a new Longmont-based organization, hosts a discussion of the sustainability tax proposal being considered by Boulder County commissioners.
When: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16
Where: Left Hand Brewing Company, 1265 Boston Ave., Longmont
Gregerson said she supports the idea of having Boulder County commissioners ask the county’s voters to approve such a tax in November, something the commissioners are considering but haven’t yet decided.
She said Wednesday night’s meeting at the Left Hand Brewing Company will include a presentation by David Fridland, Eco-Cycle’s Longmont recycling campaigns coordinator, about the impacts a sustainability tax could have on Longmont residents and businesses.
Gregerson, a senior associate engineer at Trident Energy Services, said Wednesday’s two-hour gathering will also provide a chance for people to learn about her organization, which she said she’s formed to provide a grassroots opportunity for Longmont-area residents to have a local voice in a variety of energy, water quality, food and transportation issues.
“My job is energy efficiency,” Gregerson said, but her environmental and sustainability concerns go beyond that.
“I just want a better world for our kids,” she said.
