Clint Folsom, a real estate broker and chairman of the town’s planning commission, this week filed paperwork to run for mayor of Superior.

Folsom, 44, is the first person to turn in a candidate affidavit in pursuit of the mayoral seat that will be vacated by the term-limited Andrew Muckle in November, according to Superior town clerk Phyllis Hardin.

The father of two said he has lived in Superior for 17 year, serving on the planning commission for the past six of them.

He said his recent involvement in meetings discussing the 157-acre Superior Town Center development project spurred him to run for mayor. It is his first time seeking an elected office.

“We are at the beginning of a tremendous amount of growth in the town of Superior and we are going to need effective leadership to make sure that development happens as the town envisions and in a way that is best for our residents,” he said.

Election Day is Nov. 4.
